Exclusive Hands-On with the TAG Heuer Monaco Bamford
TAG Heuer has unveiled their first in-house collaboration piece with Bamford. This kind of out of the box thinking is propelling TAG Heuer to become a Baselworld darling.
Just unveiled at Baselworld 2018, the TAG Heuer Monaco Bamford is a solid carbon marvel. Based on the iconic Monaco model, this piece really stands out in the metal. The next step in TAG Heuer’s collaboration with George Bamford brings even more legitimacy to the leader in watch customization.
Last year, TAG Heuer, along with LVMH brands Hublot and Zenith officially announced their partnership with George Bamford and his Bamford Watch Department customization group. This partnership has brought forth some incredible bespoke timepieces, but the Monaco Bamford is the first official standard production watch.
The particulars
The TAG Heuer Monaco Bamford is sized at 39mm with a unique left position crown, this lefty particularly appreciates the nod to wrong wristers. Bamford’s has added their unique touches via a sharp matte black dial accentuated by aqua blue markers and chronograph counters. The case back is engraved “Monaco Bamford” and the watch is fitted to a black alligator strap.
The remarkably lightweight carbon case features a dynamic design, with the material properties of carbon ensures each piece will have a unique texture. On the wrist this piece was feather light and fit comfortably on my 7.5-inch wrists. The aqua blue motif tempts you so much that it’s hard to look away!
Powered by TAG Heuer’s Caliber 11 automatic chronograph movement. Visible through the sapphire crystal case back. The heart of the movement beats at 28,800 v.p.h. and boosts a power reserve of 40 hours. Water resistance of 100 meters ensures you can wear this at the track, beach, or snugly under a cuff.
Price
What’s even more remarkable? The price. $8,100 USD and only available at TAG Heuer boutiques and online store. The TAG Heuer Monaco Bamford is the start of a great partnership and we look forward to seeing what’s next from Mr. Bamford and TAG Heuer’s craftsmen.
